Humane Society all the way. Mixed breeds tend to have fewer health issues (such as hip dysplasia – which is generally a big dog problem). And you will form a very special bond with a dog you rescue.
Golden-Doodles are also good (golden retriever and standard poodle mix). They are loving, playful, protective, big, and they don’t shed (poodle hair).

It looks like a beagle mix.
I really like collies, they’re so cute and fluffy! Problem is, they do need a lot of exercise and are hyper as well. But I would think they’re worth it!

Firstly, the dog in the picture is a beagle. They don't grow very big, probably a medium in size.

Secondly, collage takes up a lot of time. Having a dog takes up time too. You need to make sure you can walk your dog at least once or twice a day depending on the breed. Weimaraners are very active and can get destructive, like many other breeds, when left at home unattended for long hours.

Money may also be a problem too. You will be paying for collage a house and a dog. getting a large dog, unless you are sure you can handle it, may not be the best thing at this point in time.

Because we don't know how active you are, how much time you have, what length of fur you want…etc. take this quiz instead. It is one of the most easiest quizzes I have come across. After you have finished and click submit, it will show you some all breeds that are good for you.

If you do NOT want a hyper dog, what about an English Bulldog? We have had one for 4 years and he is GREAT! Not a lot of exercising, and easy to get along with! As with any dog, show them who’s boss from the get-go and even a larger dog will behave for you.

If you have a larger yard and can walk him/ excercise him, then a lab would be choice #1!! BUT, you NEED to excercise him even if you have a yard. The larger the dog, the more work you need to put into it. When I say work, I mean love. Either way you look at it, it’s time consuming for the larger dogs, but the reward may be worth it!

A labrador I'd recommend, they are generally friendly dogs, easy to house train and they are of medium/large size.

If you are renting, you do need to check with the owner to see if pets are allowed. That aside, take a trip to the Humane Society and pick out a homeless dog with a good temperament. Good luck and happy hunting.

Looks like a baby Beagle! Not great dogs! cute but bark and more one person dogs, a first dog you need something like a golden retriever or even like a pug or a mixed dog would be good. If you have a yard get a weimaraner they have alot have knee and leg problems A retriever is an amazing dog and they love playing but also can just sit around too!!

it’s either a beagle or a basset hound. You don’t want either.

I’d go with a labrador retriever.
