You have to pick a name that good for you and your wife. I do like dogs with people names. It just really gives it that their a real part of the family feel. I also like fun names. I'm a animal lover. I have had dogs with the craziest names like Fat Weasel and Skinny Bones. I have two dogs now and their name is Mariah and Makiah. Pick whats best for you and you have to see the dog first to pick a name. A certain name goes with a certain face. Good luck and Congrads.

Rigel is good. I like your idea. If your wife really hates it ask her for her suggestions and make a list of the ones you can both agree on. Here are some other suggestions (although I still like Rigel best)

Other Weimaraners I’ve come across are Barkley, Ollie & Gage.

Mine is Graycie Lou but that won’t help you since yours is male. I like the name Orion rather than Rigel, you’ll get people pronouncing it wrong all the time.

There’s also Gunner, bullet, trigger, remington.. for a thought since they are gun dogs. Get creative.

Word of advice (NEVER) feed human food ever. Did I say NEVER? Gastroenteritis if you don’t know what that is it’s roughly $500 at your vets..lol. Weims have sensitive stomachs and human food causes severe upset stomachs. Oh yes and obedience school at a young age is good.

Weimaraners are lovely dogs, and you are right to want to choose a good name! I think you should talk to your wife, and tell her what you've put in that question; that you would like a name like that. You could also ask her what sort of names she likes and see if you can come to an agreement. I hope you find a nice name, good luck!

Rigel is a great name! I love it. You rarely see the blues since the standard faults them, but I find that they are a lovely color in the breed. Good luck with the pup!!
