Does anybody else out there like Weimaraners?

I love this breed and I am about to get a little Weimaraner stud. I am not sure what to name him, though I am leaning towards Shadow or Rusty. I am looking for name suggestions also!
Randi, I'm curious. If you dislike them so much, than why do you work with them as much as you do?

This can be a difficult breed so you need to know what you are getting into. I'm just assuming that this is your first Weimaraner. If not, just ignore this!

They are super high energy and can be high strung. They need lots of exercise and attention, much more than the standard hunting dog. They can suffer from severe separation anxiety and are not the dog to leave at home for 10 hours a day.

They are very affectionate, sometimes clingy towards their owners and can be dangerous (if not introduced as young pups) to cats and other furry animals. They can bark and howl particularly as a result of separation anxiety.

I heard a statistic (do not know if it is true) that a third of Weim puppies are given up because their owners cannot handle them. This is not a good dog for a first time dog owner.

They can also suffer from bloat so they need to be fed small meals during the day instead of one big meal.

They are amazing dogs but really need people who know what they are doing and are willing to put in the time. Yes, they are truly beautiful and elegant dogs.

In Germany, Weimaraners are still hunting dogs and they are only sold to people who are serious hunters. This is cool, long-haired Weims without the docked tail:

This is also really nice. Wegman with Man Ray discussing spelling.

Sorry, I personally think they're freaky looking.

    Those eyes make me shiver.
    Weirdos.

They don't seem real bright either.

They probably make great pets, enjoy him.

Neuter him too. He'll be a better pet, healthier, and live longer too.

They are terrible dogs. They are not good with kids, families, more than one person, etc.
They have problems with other dogs.
    Good luck!
