What is you guys opinion on Weimaraners?
Written by on Saturday, October 18, 2008 – 5:18 pm -Do you guys like Weimaraners? If so, why or why not?
I have a Weimardoodle and hes great
DONT CALL MY DOG A MUTT! Apparently you don't have any clue what you are talking about. Am mutt is a mix of 3 dogs or more; not 2. They are also less prone to disease. We know where our breeder comes from, and she MEANT to breed them.
Ok, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT MUTTS! WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WEIMARANERS! SO STOP TALKING ABOUT MUTTS!!!!!!!!!!!1
u guys really need to get a life. not those who ACTUALLY ANSWERED MY QUESTION but keep complaining about frikin mutts, god
I LOVE them! I plan on getting one soon. Theyre beautiful, apparently smart. Theyre big( I love big dogs) So really Whats NOT to like?

There ok, I knew one that was very over protective and not socialized at all, but from what ive read about them is that they are very unruly and hard to train, but when trained properly they are very good dogs
Weimardoodles are mutts, poodle/weimaraner mix(mixes are mutts, "hybrids" are mutts)
They are not less prone to disease, true hybrids(different species) are less prone to genetic disease, but not a mix of domestic dog with domestic dog, only a wolf dog hybrid would be less prone to genetic diseases

I like purebred Weimaraners that come from responsible breeders.
I do not like mutts that are give fancy names. Example, a "Weimardoodle."
You know that these "Weimardoodles" are from backyard breeders. No reputable breeder would breed this mutt.
Hope this helps!
EDIT: Time to face the facts sweetheart! A mutt is, "A mutt is a mixed-breed, cross-breed dog, or an inferior dog."
So, your dog is a mutt. Your so called "breeder"is what is known as a Back yard breeder.
So, don't get mad! I own a mutt too. He is what i call a "rottbullsheagle." Since you get to put a fancy name on your mutt, so do i.
My rottbullsheagle is a mix of rottweiler/pitbull/beagle/shepard.
Don't worry! You should still love your dog!
EDIT:
Please take a look at the question I just asked….I think you will be happy to see the responses.

I think they are very pretty dog, such a nice alternative to a lab in my opinion. They have beautiful silvery coats, which are natural, unlike the ‘silver labs’ they are producing now. If you’re looking for a dog, definitely check out the Weims!

Sorry but any 2 dogs that are not of the same breed and are bred together produce MUTTS. They are not purbred so they are mutts.
Just because they puposely bred them does not make them pure.
yes mutts are less prone to disease but that is because there is not inbreeding involved.

A mutt is any mix of anything. I dont know what you’re talking about, but hes a mutt. He may be a good dog, but hes not a purebred.

Weimaraners and Weimardoodles aren’t the same thing. When mixing dog breeds there is no way to know how the puppies will turn out; they could inherit the best qualities of each breed, but they could just as easily inherit the worst qualities.
The word “mutt” has nothing to do with the number of breeds mixed- look it up. Mutt just means that the dog isn’t purebred, and it isn’t necessarily a negative term. There is also no truth to the claim that mutts are healthier. They could inherit the genetic problems of both parent breeds. Finally, only backyard breeders would produce mutts. The fact that she did it on purpose doesn’t mean anything.

Your dog is a mutt dude… The whole "3 breeds or more" thing is not true at all. I hope you adopted this dog and didn't shell out a ton of money for him.
Weimardoodle… HAHAHAHAHA. What will they think of next?
If you don't like the word MUTT, you can call it a mixed breed… But mixing a poodle with another breed of dog does not mean you have a new breed. THrowing DOODLE on the end of something does not mean you have a new breed. mixed is mixed. Sounds like you were taken for a ride by these "breeders."

I think PUREBRED Weims are a gorgeous breed, but "Weimardoodles" are as much of a mutt as my Rat Terrier/Lab mix who was going to be gassed in a Louisiana shelter if she wasn't going to be rescued:
http://flickr.com/photos/meaghanedwards/2885382391/in/set-72157594161963335/
And they're as much of a mutt as these poor dogs:
http://www.awarenessday.org (check out all those "Doodle" pups that were rescued)
http://www.poomixrescue.com
Not all of those dogs are taken off that site because they've been adopted. After viewing that site, how could you still support breeding of them?
Mixed breeds are NOT less prone to diseases. In fact, if anything, they're more sickly. Think about it; what's more healthier, a purebred Standard Poodle pup who's titled parents have health clearances, or a Lab/Poodle mutt from untitled parents? I've worked with several Rott/Shepherd mixes with hip issues and "Puggles" with eye and neurological problems.

She may have meant to breed them, that doesn’t mean it is a proper breeding or that a Weimadoodle is a breed. I could MEAN to breed my Chihuahua and my German Shepherd and that doesn’t mean that they would not be mutts.

"Mixed breed" means there is a mix of 2 or more breeds of dog.
"Mutt" is the same term as "mixed breed"
Sorry, your dog IS a mutt! They are NOT less prone to disease.. your dog can get the same diseases that weims AND poodle carry.. and actually is more likely to have those diseases because most people who breed mixes do NOT do genetic health testing!
Purposly breeding them doesnt mean its a quality or healthy dog, it just means the breeder was irresponsible enough to breed a mixed breed dog.
If you wanted to know about purebreds, then why mention your mutt?
I dont know much about Weims, I've only met a few. They are an active breed.. they were bred for water sport and retrieval. Pretty dogs, but far too much energy for me.. may be a good dog if you are an active person and wanting a jogging buddy tho.
ADDED
NO reputable breeder breeds mixes.. mixed breed dogs come from back yard breeders and puppy millers.. it doesnt matter what the mix is.. its irresponsible to purposly or accidently breed mixes while so many die in shelters.

This dog is definitely a mutt. If it is a mixed breed dog it is a mutt. That DOES NOT however mean your breeder was a BYB, people also breed puggles and other mixed breeds, they dont always have to be BYBs. If you love your dog, that is all that counts.
Hope I help!
